Chonradi Tungkanark has been an excellent and a passionate nurse at our beloved Eye department for many years. Her kindness and genuine care is not only known among her colleagues but many patients receiving treatment at this department as well. The DAISY Award committee has chosen Chonradi to be our October 2015 DAISY Award winner. Many patients have written kind words about Chonradi but the one that truly captures the committee's heart is the statement from one of the patients as shown below: "Prior to receiving care at the hospital, I had very bad cataracts that I could not see anything clearly and endangering myself and those around me. I was told that I had to undergo a cataract removal surgery. Any kind of surgery carries certain risks, and I was fearful for my life and my family. I was very worried and stressed out about undergoing this surgery until I had a chance to have a conversation with Nurse Chonradi at Eye Clinic. She has taken her time sitting and talking with me, explaining about the procedure and the benefits from such procedure, especially how it can improve my quality of life and those around me. Even though I was always against her, her smile, encouraging words, support and determination in improving my health have finally reached me and I decided to proceed with the surgery. The surgery went perfectly well. After the surgery, Nurse Chonradi called back to check up on my health and recovery process. Although the surgery went fine, I still had many questions about post operative care. She never showed that she was bothered by my numerous questions. She was determined to provide me with support and more encouraging words as well as answering all my questions until I felt much better and more confidence about my recovery. I used to think of myself as a patient to the hospital but after this amazing experience, I feel like I was one of the family members to the hospital. Thanks to endless care and kindness provided by Nurse Chonradi."
