Dawn embodies excellence in care in everything she does. I have worked with her since arriving at SickKids two years ago and find her totally unique in her mixture of medical acumen, organizational and interpersonal skills and family relatedness. Dawn knows the disorders we care for in genetics (which are many, rare and complex) at the level of advanced trainees in the field. She recognizes what each patient's needs are and does an excellent job of keeping all of us on task. Her organizational skills are superb and she is always two steps ahead and keeps us at least one step ahead. She is also very much appreciated by the families she works with.
One day ahead of clinic, she wrote me to make sure that I had a full plan for a new (very rare) diagnosis and to see what she could do to facilitate that visit. This level of planning goes well beyond her job description. She rarely trumpets her own excellence (so I will need to do this for her) but we couldn't find a better work partner than Dawn.
