Jessica Guillema is a very skillful and competent nurse whose years of experience in Obstetrical Nursing make her a real asset for L & D. She is a very professional nurse applying the hospital vision, mission and values in her everyday work. Her high working standards, professional skills, responsibility and accountability helps our unit in achieving our unit nursing objectives. She treats customers and colleagues, all people in fact, in a polite manner and with respect.
She is very kind, sensitive and compassionate towards her patients providing them the highest standard of care. Her Arabic language skill allows her also to communicate with all her patients. She is able to support her patient's physical needs as well as giving them emotional support. Her patient's family members who often visit the ward show their appreciation for the way she cared for them. The way she care for her patient touched me.
Jessica was assigned a lady who was staying on L&D for some time due to complications and the pain which was not controlled by the usual pain management used on L&D post operation. She was ordered different medications in an attempt to control the pain, and this particular nurse had to run back and forth to collect the medications from the pharmacy herself as the unit was extremely busy. With that situation, nobody was able to relieve her even for a short break. She stayed with her patient to comfort her, carrying out orders, to take care of her medical and physical needs. The patient was becoming demanding due to her continuous pain, but Jessica continued to show kindness and care by listening to her, saying kind supportive words and reassuring her without a word of complaint. Her kindness, care, patience and professionalism were outstanding.
Jessica is very flexible, fast and is ready to take on any case/job assigned to her. You will never find her upset or having a negative attitude at work, instead she is always cheerful, kind supportive also to all of her colleagues. She has a vast knowledge of her specialty and is always available as a trusted resource for both doctors and nurses. She is a valuable team member in our unit and everybody enjoys working with her.
She demonstrates her leadership skills as a charge nurse by treating each member fairly and makes good use of her time and resources. She is a hard worker and sets an excellent example to us all. She is kind and gentle in her approach to manage her team and the unit, making it smooth and pleasant environment no matter how hectic the day. There is nothing that she asks of her team that she is unwilling to do herself. She is the essence of transformational leadership. Her constant humility and compassion make her most deserving of the DAISY Award and everything it stands for.
Jessica Guillema is truly deserving of the DAISY Award.
