Lynn Wright is an excellent nurse with many years of experiences on 8A and 5A. Lynn's strong clinical nursing skills are an asset to our unit 5A. We are so fortunate to have her on our unit. We call her the "expert" when it comes to taking care of our Osteosarcoma population. She has a wealth of knowledge in pediatric oncology and continues to pass on her pediatric oncology expertise to all the nursing colleagues.
Lynn is also a strong advocate for patient care. She advocates for her patients and strives to provide exceptional outstanding care to her patients. She is the nurse who goes above and beyond for her critically ill patients and advocates for them to receive the medical attention that they deserve. She does this by making suggestions to doctors to help improve the outcome of her patient's care.
Not only is she a great nurse, she is also a supportive colleague. She continues to help nurses at work. She never says no when someone needs help with anything. Because of her knowledge and her willingness to help, she is my "go to" nurse when I need help. She is always willing to lend a helping hand. Lynn does not just advocate for patients, she advocates for nurses, especially new ones. She believes that new nurses will gain their skills, confidence, and experiences through time.
Lastly, she is a really good teacher/mentor. She has mentored and precepted numerous students and new staff. Her knowledge continues to amaze all of us. Her dedication to the pediatric population is what we should all learn from.

I had the pleasure of working with Lynn on 8A (Haem/Onc) before she transitioned to 5A. Lynn is an incredible nurse. Families were not only lucky to have Lynn as their nurse, but her colleagues were lucky to have her on their team. She is incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and compassionate. Lynn goes above and beyond to make sure her colleagues are supported and never fails to offer a helping hand, a listening ear or a loving hug. Lynn is an exceptional role model.

Lynn is truly an exceptional nurse. I have had the pleasure of working with Lynn on 5A for the last two years. She is a role model and mentor on our unit, especially for the new staff whom she precepts. She is always willing to help and answer questions. She has a wealth of knowledge from her many years of experience working as an oncology nurse on 8A and now as a surgical nurse on 5A. She is dedicated to her work and providing the best possible care to patients and families. Recently she cared for a complex patient who was having difficulty turning due to pain/anxiety and as a result, had skin breakdown on their backside. Lynn was instrumental in helping to increase this patient's mobility and improve their skin breakdown. Lynn helped to relieve this patient's anxiety associated with mobilizing with her gentle, calm, encouraging and reassuring demeanor. She used a blow dryer on a cool setting to keep the patient's skin cool and dry every few hours! She also helped coordinate care between the different medical teams involved in the patient's care and always advocated on behalf of the patient and family. Lynn made an extraordinary difference for this patient in their recovery, as she has done for so many others during her career at SickKids. Everyone on 5a is very grateful to have such an amazing, passionate, hard-working nurse on our team. She is very deserving of special recognition for her years of providing excellent family-centered care, mentoring new staff and students, hard work and dedication to SickKids. Lynn is a bright light that never stops shining. Thank you, Lynn, for all that you do.
