Carri Opperud, RN made sure my father was well cared for and she eased my fears and pulled me off the ledge. Carri exceeded our family expectations for care. In the midst of COVID last month, my father was diagnosed with cancer, and our anxious family arrived with Dad for his surgery. We received great care from the OR circulators who kept our family informed surrounding Dad's surgery delays. When Dad entered the recovery room we left for supper. Soon thereafter, Carri called and said bring his things and we'll take it to his room. When we arrived at the hospital's front door is was closed so we had to go through the emergency room, I was helped to the recovery room. Carri was with Dad and his heart rate and blood pressure were up a bit. Carri explained everything down to what she had done and what the plan was for Dad. I started crying because I didn't realize I couldn't stay with Dad. I lost it and was blubbering because there was so much was going on including 2 days before Dad's diagnosis my mom fell and broke her pelvis and my fiancé's mom had a stroke that week. Carri hugged me and said, "I'm praying girl... we'll get through this... I'll take care of him". Carri literally took me off the ledge. I got it together, left his stuff, and got to the car. About 15 minutes later Carri called to let her know her Dad was better would not have to go to ICU and explained everything she was doing to keep him comfortable. Carri treated Dad way above expectations. Carri truly eased my fears and pulled me from the ledge, exceeding my expectations for care.
