What really stood out was the connection Mitchell made with my mother. He even sat down in the chair during one of his conversations with us.
Incredible personality, encouraging, patent, kind, and compassionate! This was the worst experience in my mother's life, it was unimaginable. My mother was my best friend. Mitchell always used an encouraging tone and he had such a helpful and caring heart. My mother felt safe with him. He treated her with such kindness. He was so engaging with her and she responded to him so well. He treated my mother with such compassion. We are not all alike; we all have different needs as human beings. This nurse was special to take the time to make a connection with my mother. We valued his medical knowledge, but what really stood out was the connection he made with my mother. He even sat down in the chair during one of his conversations with us. Even after we left this nursing unit, my mother asked, 'where was Mitchell?' He was funny and made us laugh, we both missed him! She wanted to nominate him and hoped he would be recognized. Sadly, my mother passed away a few days ago, and it has been the hardest thing ever.
