Dagmara
Czarnowieska
,
RN, BSN
Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Chicago
Dagmara spoke with the patient directly as if she were awake, compassionately whispering into her ear what she was doing and why.
Dagmara was recognized by a caregiver who observed that she was consistently caring, compassionate, and very considerate of their loved one during her hospital stay. Every time she entered the patient's room, she not only greeted the caregivers and shared exactly what she was doing and why, but she also spoke with the patient directly as if she were awake, compassionately whispering into her ear what she was doing and why. She offered words of encouragement and even suggestions to think about for their loved one's care (e.g. the holistic and alternative options such as acupuncture). The caregiver stated that there are truly not enough superlatives to use for this nurse, adding that it is their hope that one day all of the Nursing Staff at the CTCA Campus at Zion will care for patients and families like Dagmara does.
