For hours, Ms. Margie made me feel like a human being, which for a mental patient in a crisis meant everything.
My nurse Margie is the best most exceptional nurse I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Margie is awesome, compassionate, kind, and full of joy. She made my experience so pleasurable in my time of desperation.
I came into the VA under suicide watch. I wanted to die. I felt hopeless and distraught. From the beginning at 2:00-3:30 am I entered crying, discouraged, and lost. For hours, Ms. Margie made me feel like a human being, which for a mental patient in a crisis meant everything. She gave me coffee; she calmed me down; she fed me; she gave me a warm blanket. Every step of the way Margie encouraged me to live. She talked to me and gave me a reason to live. She thanked me for my service. She let me listen to a song to ease my troubles. She was absolutely wonderful. She does her job well; she keeps you informed; she listens, she helps; she will even ask you if you want another warm blanket. She saved my life; she is a hero.
