The comfort of knowing Makaila was there gave me peace of mind. This young lady is a gift from God, she obviously takes her job seriously and she loves what she does.
My 94-year-old aunt was admitted to South Shore Hospital. Obviously, at her age, she has been in several facilities from the doctor's office, pt therapy facilities, and hospitals. To be honest I was skeptical of letting her be admitted to South Shore. First of all, I knew nothing about the hospital and it was a bit further than I wanted her to be, as I see her every day. I am my aunt's caretaker and POA. After being transferred from a facility in Milwaukee as they did not have any room there she was admitted to South Shore.
Nurse Makaila was the first nurse that my aunt had care from. I will tell you she is the sweetest, most caring, patient, and respectful nurse I have ever dealt with. She goes over and beyond any nurse that I have personally dealt with. I would call the hospital several times a day she would answer my questions, if she did not know the answer always got back to me. Makaila knew my aunt had hearing issues and her eyesight was very minimal so it was hard to contact my aunt directly. She went out of her way and made a call to me so I could talk to my aunt. Makaila helped my aunt understand me as I said she has hearing issues.
Then the quarantine with the coronavirus affected any visitors to hospitals. This really hit me as I could not see her. The comfort of knowing Makaila was there gave me peace of mind. This young lady is a gift from God, she obviously takes her job seriously and she loves what she does. This is very apparent. I told her that if I had the money and the means I would hire her in a heartbeat to be my Aunt's caregiver.
With this being said I feel that Makaila is a true DAISY Nurse. Please realize that the other nurses on staff were very kind but Makaila stood out beyond the best. The doctors that were treating my aunt were the best I have dealt with as well. You have a top-notch hospital, keep up the exceptional work.
