When patients are depressed and unmotivated, Cathy seemingly can work magic to get them to try once again and to be successful.
Cathy has worked at B-FH since 2005. Cathy is truly a remarkable RN. Rehab nursing uses all nurses' clinical skills. Rehab nurses begin their work with patients soon after they suffer a disabling injury or chronic illness, and they restore patients' lives, so they have freedom and independence again. Cathy has a special heart for the rehab patients in our organization. She is patient, combining compassion and tough love when needed. I have seen her coax and encourage these patients to get up out of bed and do their own personal care, ambulate to the bathroom, administer their insulin injections, and even dress their own wounds. When these folks are depressed and unmotivated, Cathy seemingly can work magic to get them to try once again and to be successful. She does not allow them to give up or not do something just because they say they cannot. Cathy seldom gets ruffled and will quietly go about her duties even when the day becomes hectic and overwhelming. She not only cares for her patients but also consistently goes the extra mile to make sure her co-workers and colleagues are also getting what they need and never once complains. Cathy is a source of knowledge for new staff and can always be counted on when patients experience a worsening in their condition. In a crisis, she commands the room quietly and authoritatively, always making sure that the patient is getting the best of care. Cathy is hard-working, knowledgeable, empathetic, and has a true love of her profession.
Cathy makes a difference every day and is truly a DAISY Nurse.
