Baylie is a nurse that goes above and beyond, always! With only a year of experience under her belt, she has proven and exemplified what a nurse should be. She is kind and compassionate as well as confident and humble.
When I first met her, she displayed an immediate talent for nursing, she was not afraid to jump in and help and she asked appropriate questions. As she gained experience, that trait did not disappear, it continued to grow, and she is easily one of the most helpful and dependable nurses on the unit.
A moment that really defined Baylie for me was when she was taking care of a terminal cancer patient. This patient had so many social issues, on top of terminal cancer diagnosis, and all at the age of 15. It was already mid-afternoon and Baylie was transferring the patient and setting her up for the next couple of hours so that Baylie could go eat lunch.
This patient was emotional (rightly so) and had a small crying episode before Baylie left for lunch. Instead of just talking to her patient to make her better, Baylie took her lunch with her and decided to keep her patient company and spend some time with her during her lunch break.
Baylie truly cares for all aspects of her patients. She is beautiful inside and out and deserves to be recognized for all that she does.
