Telisha rubbed my back. Provided encouragement and reassurance. She told me I'd be okay, and I believed her.
I was diagnosed with COVID and admitted. I would not have made it had it not been for Telisha. As her co-worker, I've seen countless times the compassionate care she bestows upon her patients. She's always extremely patient. She takes the time to answer questions and thoroughly explain everything. Most importantly, she is caring, providing reassurance, and compassionate care. She exemplifies extraordinary qualities, not just as a nurse but as a person.
While in the hospital, I was having a very difficult night. I was diagnosed with COVID-19. After a coughing spell, it was hard to breathe. I was scared. I was panicking. Thank God she was there. She entered the room and immediately I felt calm all over me. She hugged me so tightly. She rubbed my back. Provided encouragement and reassurance. She told me I'd be okay, and I believed her. She told me she was praying for me and I felt certain she was. Why wouldn't I believe her? Many times, I'd seen her pray for, over, and with her patients.
While in her arms I cried and sobbed uncontrollably. I knew it was okay to "let it out" and that she would be strong for me. Her emotions are contagious. Being a caregiver is her calling. She treats all patients the same regardless of their class, employment status, sex, race, or color. Simply put, she raises the bar by possessing all the qualities a good/great nurse should have. I feel blessed to have had her as my nurse, to have her as my co-worker, and most importantly as a friend. From this point on I will strive to be the type of nurse she is.
