Savanna was willing to come and act as a surrogate for this patient's family when they were unable to come and be with the patient.
Savanna gave me report on a patient who was on hospice and did not have a lot of time left. During this quarantine, this patient's family was not able to come to say goodbye to the patient or be with her when she passed.
Savanna made sure that the patient's family was updated throughout the night, she let them speak and pray with her on speakerphone.
She really truly cared for this patient, turning her and making sure she was always comfortable. She talked to her and let her know that she was not alone. She treated her like family.
But where she went above and beyond is when after giving me report on the patient, she offered to come in on her own time to sit next to the patient if her time to pass came on my shift.
I was really touched to know that Savanna was willing to come and act as a surrogate for this patient's family when they were unable to come and be with the patient.
Savanna provided care, love, compassion, and support to a patient and the patient's family in a time of need.
Savanna is a great example of a wonderful nurse and I strive to care for my patients as well as she does for hers!
