Dear Joe, I am so grateful that you were with my brother until the end. It was so hard to be on FaceTime with J as he passed away. You were there for him with mercy, love, and compassion. I could hardly know what would amount to enough appreciation for what you did for us. Thank you and the team for holding his hand when I couldn't. Joe, thank you for all the physical comfort you provided. You helped make it clear that he was gone, and you helped me begin to understand that from now on there would be "life with J" and now a life without my baby brother. J and I were always close. Since he endured many disabilities, when our parents died, I became not just his sister but a parent figure to him. He had a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, a 21-year-old niece who he adored, and a brother in my husband who never wavered in his love and support. There are many memories to cherish and lots of love to carry on.
Lastly, I want to thank you and anyone else on the front lines, taking care of people with COVID, for being so amazing. There is a love I will always have for you all. It is the love that will help us all heal and feel happiness again.
