Taylor's patient had been in the hospital for almost three weeks and was on the ventilator for most of this time. This lead to extremely matted hair that would have had to be cut off or shaved had Taylor not stepped in. Taylor took extra time during her night shift to meticulously wash and detangle the patient's matted hair.
After much hard work, Taylor successfully detangled most of the patient's hair. Taylor's caring spirit and loving nature saved this patient's hair along with her confidence and self-esteem. The patient felt all dolled up when her husband arrived the following morning and the day shift could barely recognize the patient. The patient's husband was extremely grateful for such a caring act. He stated his wife's personality had really shown since receiving Taylor's spa treatment. Although this was just one instance, Taylor exemplifies the spirit of the DAISY Award with every patient she cares for.
