The daughter of a patient shared that her mother fell and broke both of her arms on Saturday night. She lives in Spring City. The patient was brought by EMS to our ED. Her husband who is not well, managed to drive himself to the Hixson campus, but was lost and not sure of where to go. This daughter lives in Colorado and her sister lives in California. They happen to both be nurses. They were concerned about their mother, but probably more concerned about their father and his well-being.
They called the nursing administrator. She was quick to rush into action and find the gentleman, bring him to their mother, and ensure that he was safe. She goes on to say that not only did she keep him safe, but while her mother was having surgery Sherry found a bed for her father to rest in and brought him dinner to make sure that he ate. Sherry kept checking on him to make sure that he was okay. She goes on to say that the hospital has been wonderful and the 3rd floor staff is amazing. Sherry helped their family more than they could ever tell her thank you for.

Sherry is always reflective of our core values. Sherry is often at the bedside when things are going wrong (ex: loved one is passing, patient complaints). She always handles these situations delicately and with empathy for the patient and their family.
