Regina was nominated for the compassionate care she gave to a woman plagued with serious medical issues. The woman had stage 4 congestive heart failure, COPD and anemia. With her entire house packed and ready to move to Idaho, the woman was then diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Her stepdaughter was ready to help move her to Idaho so that she could begin chemotherapy treatments there.
But, as fate would have it, her cancer had progressed enough that chemotherapy had to be started here at Saint Agnes. With everything that has happened to this woman, a shining light came into her life…an amazing nurse named Regina, with her compassion and respect, my stepmother felt like a human, not just a patient or a name on a chart. Regina gave my stepmother comfort when she needed it, and actually had her laughing and smiling every time she was in the room. What an amazing, compassionate, caring, respectful woman!
