Recently my mother-in-law was cared for by Beth in the Neuro ICU. The care she received from Beth was outstanding! As a nurse educator and Presby employee it was a very difficult and stressful ordeal being a family member on the "other" side. Beth went out of her way to support our entire family and explain all her treatments as I was not a neuro expert. She not only delivered excellent care to my family but she worked with us to address difficult issues including advanced directives among other things. Beth was not only knowledgeable but was a strong advocate for the patient. I witnessed this while attending daily interdisciplinary rounds. At the time of her care, M's case was not hopeful as she never woke up from her brain surgery. She was ultimately transferred from the ICU to a nursing home with hospice. Unbelievably she "woke up" 24 hours after she was transferred and continues to make progress, talking, eating, etc. If it had not been for the excellent care she received from Beth and 4G staff this would not have been possible. Our family is eternally grateful to still have her with us!
