Bea was a theater major in college and one of the requirements for that program was a First Aid class. Once shetook First Aid, she was hooked on health care. She switched her major to nursing and graduated magna cum laude from WSU. She happened to do her senior practicum in pediatric oncologyat Seattle Children's and she has been in oncologyever since. We are so lucky that chance sent her our way.
Bea has been at SCCA as a Heme CNC for almost 4 years. In that time, she has proven herself to be the epitome of a strong, intelligent, and dedicated nurse. Bea is a tireless advocate for her patients. She will bend over backwards, leave no stone unturned, and often work late into the evening to try to provide the best care and support to her patients.
Bea is known for being the blur racing through clinic or down the hallway. She is the person who holds everything together and knows everything that needs to be done. Her teams rely on her skilled judgment in clinical situations and on her excellent communication and rapport with patients.
Bea is a preceptor, and new nurses appreciate her ability to share her knowledge. She has a breadth and depthof understanding about heme diseasesand about her individual patients.
Among the nurses, Bea is an outspoken championfor her peers and for nursing. She was selected by her peers to sit on the Clinical Practice Council. Her team respects her excellent clinical skills and knows that Bea will always have nursing's best interests in mind. She's also the one that everyone looks to for organizing celebrations, potlucks, and Happy Hours. She is caring to her colleagues, has a wicked sense of humor, and tends to be the life of the party!
We're very proud to be able to celebrate Bea for the tireless, incredibly dedicated nurse that she is. We're very fortunate to have Bea on our team.
Bea also has her Oncology Nursing Certification. She isACLS-trained and has been tapped towork on the re-vamp of the SCCA emergency medical response. Sheultimately would like to get her DNP and she also hopes towork with Doctors Without Borderssometime in the future.

To be honest, it is hard to pinpoint only one example of how wonderful Beatrice is. I can say that she is our research team liaison in clinic and does an amazing job balancing patient care while helping us meet the requirements of our protocols. She is always open to explaining clinic processes and helping us work with the clinicians.
It is wonderful that she is the recipient of this award!

Three words to describe Bea would be brilliant, compassionate, and empathetic.Bea embodies what nursing is truly about. She has a true heart of compassion.I feel this is evident by the respect and adoration her patients have for her. Her patients will wait to hear back from her regarding specific questions they have about their treatment because they trust her and want her opinion on their health.
Bea goes that extra mile for every one of her patients; she makes sure they are safe and well taken care of. They trust that they are in good hands when she is taking care of them. Her nursing knowledge is extensive!
You can go to her with any question you have and she will be able to answer you or she will take the time to find the answer for you. Her team is exceptionally fond of her, entrusting their patients in her hands.
I feel lucky to work with her; she makes me laugh every day and helps make light of situations when the stress of caring for ill patients gets tough. I am so proud that she has received this award!
