My husband was a patient at Floyd. He was very sick and had become confused in the last few months. Without knowing what he was doing he gave away our entire life savings. I was left with $6.00 dollars in the bank and my husband was not doing well. He was a member of a traveling gospel group with his brothers and decided to dedicate his life to music. The three things that were important to my husband was God, family, and music. My granddaughter brought the mail to the hospital and I saw a disconnect notice to my power. I cried because there was nothing else I could do. About that time James came in and began to talk to us. We were asked if we needed anything and then he sat with us. I began to talk about our recent troubles and how my husband loved music. The next thing I know I get a confirmation my power bill problem was sorted out with no explanation. The next day James came and got my husband and wanted to take him downstairs to the piano. A wonderful man played gospel songs for us. My husband woke up and sang along. He tapped his foot and clapped his hands. For a short period of time, I had my husband back. It was 20 of the most special minutes of my life. My husband was gone the next morning. I will miss him and I think of him every day, but I will always be grateful for James and the staff that made this happen for him. For a nurse to show so much compassion for a stranger showed me how great God is.
