Mary was my husband's nurse the day after he was shot in the line of duty. She was also with me when he was pronounced brain dead. Mary was a perfect example of what it means to be a nurse. She comforted me, was a professional, explained all test and procedures, and even sat and cried with me during this tremendous loss. Mary attended the LifeSource flag raising event to show her support for me and my family. Thank you will never be enough for how she impacted this experience. The compassion she showed is more than I've seen in my own time as a nurse.
***
As Mary's manager now, and clinical care supervisor prior to the past year, I would definitely say that Mary is a DAISY Nurse.Mary is very committed to the profession of nursing and is 100% reliable to clinically care for her patients and their family members. Over the years and because of the vast experience she has, she is able to be compassionate and empathetic in time of great sadness and despair. She does her work and approaches family members with a calmness and quietness allowing time for questions, clarification, and understanding to occur without urgency.
