Melanie consistently exemplifies integrity according to the VA standards. Not only does she meet the standard, she excels beyond them. Being on night shift there are not many managers or supervisory staff that get to see all that she does for her patients. She continues to go above and beyond for her patients and her coworkers. She is committed to her work and she always shows up with a positive attitude and a strict dedication to doing all she can to make sure her patients are extremely well taken care of. Our patients leave happier, having met Melanie. She is not afraid to speak up for what is right, even if it is not her patient. She listens to the needs of not only her patients but also her co-workers, and always makes sure she exceeds those needs. She shows respect for her fellow coworkers and patients. She listens kindly and provides respectful and courteous care to everyone. Melanie is an excellent nurse who strives for excellence. She works very hard every day and truly deserves the DAISY Award. Her goal is to one day become a chief nursing officer and I believe she will succeed in this goal. Melanie has succeeded in being a compassionate, superior nurse.
