Michelle Poovey has always been recognized by her patients and peers for going that extra mile. Her patients have said she is very compassionate and her teammates have told me they have heard her teaching her patients their side effects and provide intense medication education. She always writes their mediation and side effects on the board for the patients to remember. Her teammates always say that she helps them with their patients and is a team player.
A surgery patient's daughter came to the desk and got Michelle to check out her daddy. Michelle ran to the room and assessed the patient and called a code stroke without hesitation. It was because of Michelle's excellent critical thinking skills and prompt actions that the patient was taken to CT and transferred to CCU. Later that day Michelle visited the patient in CCU and took the patient's daughter some non-allergenic earrings and necklace because of a conversation they had earlier about her earrings making her ears itch. She was able to visit the patient and slip the gift in the room without the daughter seeing her. The daughter later came back up to the floor to thank Michelle of her kind act.
Michelle has demonstrated the CHS core values of teamwork, compassion, integrity and caring to her teammates and patients. We love and appreciate her! She is a true asset to our unit.
