Having been in the hospital for six months, I have had the pleasure of knowing many nurses. Victoria has always stood out to me and my family for many different reasons, but mostly for making us feel comfortable during my long stay. She was always going above and beyond to take care of my needs while staying on T1. Her vibrant smile and personality always brightened my day. She helped me through some difficult times, but always showed confidence each and every day. For these reasons, my family and I believe she is a DAISY Nurse. This patient had a long and difficult stay with us. She was on T1, ICU, and Acute Rehab. It is quite a testament that they (patient and family) nominated Victoria as a DAISY Nurse. Victoria is a strong patient advocate and goes above and beyond to care for her patients. We had a patient a couple of months ago that had complex discharge needs due to his medical condition and was unable to return home without daily assistance. Victoria was truly upset that this patient was not able to move forward in his care and return home as he wished. The patient's only option was to go to a facility, and potentially lose his apartment. Victoria took it upon herself to investigate and advocate for a discharge option that did not result in this man losing his apartment. She genuinely cares for her patients and will do whatever is in her power to ensure appropriate care for them through all phases of their admission up to discharge.
