My father has been in and out of numerous hospitals for years. He has a history of drug use and alcoholism, but has been sober for nearly four years. This hospital has done a great job of not letting that affect their care towards him. More specifically, there is Angela.
Angela spent a lot of time getting to know him as a person, rather than just his history of bad choices. She showed him that she genuinely cared about all aspects of his health and well-being. She treated him as if he was a dear friend. This also meant she had to be strict and blunt with him on taking care of himself outside of the hospital. She spent a lot of time helping our family understand exactly how we can make him better and told us to never give up hope. She is extremely knowledgeable and informative. She is a true reflection of what every amazing nurse should want to be.
