There are people who make this world a better place because they are here. Ali is one of those people. I lay in the CDU, scared, in pain, and worried about my future. I am a person who lives with chronic illness - Addison's disease, a thyroid cancer survivor, Celiac disease, and lichen planus of my mucous membranes. Many things have been taken from me because of these illnesses. Today, as I wait for a procedure, Ali brought comfort, laughter, and solace. She is a precious treasure. Whether it was helping me understand how to work the internet, or time my medications, or laugh when I was crying - she was there. Ali has a presence about her that makes me feel as though I've known her my whole life. She is a friend. It is obvious that this is a calling for Ali. She is dedicated to her patients, kind, caring, committed, compassionate, and sincerely empathetic - all while being professional. Not only does she make the Earth a better place to live, but she makes Valley a better hospital. Valley is lucky to have Ali, and I have been lucky to have had her for a nurse.
