Laura was assigned to my dad in May when he was admitted to the ICU. My dad can be a tough patient, cracking jokes and generally mischievous while not generally enjoying hospital stays. Laura immediately met him step by step and provided the utmost care. My family felt at ease and comforted knowing she cared for him.
When my dad was re-admitted to the hospital in late August/early September he was transferred from telemetry to PCCU overnight. Having been on a bi-pap machine all night he was agitated and not happy, but Laura came on in the morning and his mood immediately changed. What was most amazing was her ability to not only be a medical professional but also discern the patient's preferences and desires for their treatment. She just gets it. She was empathetic to him, but certain of action and treatment which made him feel secure.
Our entire family was with him and she navigated what must have been overwhelming circumstances with grace and compassion. She even came to visit us once we transitioned him to comfort care. She should be lauded as the best of the best. My only complaint is that we can't replicate her!
