I ended up having surgery twice within a week. Nathan was one of my nurses for both surgeries. Nathan always made sure I had what I needed. He explained all of my paperwork thoroughly and helped me laugh a little through the scary time!
*****
Excellent bedside manner, great listener and comforter. Nathan is a great nurse!
*****
I would like to nominate Nathan Smith for the DAISY Award for having empathy and collaborations with others on a day to day basis. I have watched Nathan grow tremendously over the last several years of his nursing career. I can sit in my office and hear Nathan interacting with pediatric patients. He goes above and beyond to make these kids feel safe and loved.
Nathan is always willing to help his peers. This past Friday he stayed over to watch a patient in OB and ended up helping to quickly do a C-section. Without hesitation, Nathan rolled up his sleeves and began helping the physician until the on-call staff arrived. Nathan later went to purchase food for all the staff in the entire hospital. Nathan didn't leave Friday night until he made sure OB, OR, ED, and acute care was calm. Then on Saturday Nathan agreed to come in and help OB because they were still busy. Nathan can make you smile when you are having the worse day. Nathan is a model for the DAISY Award!
