I would like to nominate Tabitha Malone for the DAISY Award for her dedication to the care of my wife during her 3 weeks at UMC's TSICU. Ms. Malone was not only expert, she was compassionate and caring. Her service to my wife was above and beyond mere professionalism. Not only did she provide excellent nursing care, but she kept all family members informed of important milestones and events. She helped us all understand what was happening to my wife, and she was proactive in helping us understand what to expect.
In the end, my wife passed away, but she could not have had better care in those last 3 weeks. Ms. Malone even came by to see how she (and the family) was doing on her day off. She even followed me out to the parking lot to make sure I was okay when I left one evening. She knew how difficult my wife's illness was for me, and she was as compassionate and supportive of me as she was of my wife. Ms. Malone exemplifies the noblest aspects of the nursing profession. She deserves the DAISY Award with my deepest gratitude.
