When I Picture in my mind a nurse who is kind and compassionate, calm under stress, a leader, and most importantly a role model to others-I picture Veronica Lopez. I have witnessed the excellent care and strong clinical knowledge base that Veronica presents numerous times.

Recently, Veronica was caring for a patient who had confusion and would become agitated. To add to the situation, his wife also presented at her husband's side anxious and upset as she felt the patient's medications should be changed. What the wife did not understand was that the medications she was upset about were the same medications he was getting only she knew them under a different name. Veronica was patient and kind even though the wife was visibly upset. Veronica took the time to explain everything to the patient and his wife and made sure all of their questions were answered. In the end, the wife was very pleased with Veronica and how helpful she was.

This is how Veronica is every single day. Veronica is a leader on 6 South. She picks up additional hours to help her coworkers, is a resource individual to her team members, is flexible and can fill in a charge RN when needed and exemplifies Trinity's ACES behaviors. She is truly a Shining Star here at Trinity.
