Delilah has been an employee of Adventist Hinsdale Hospital for 23 years. During this time she has proven to be an excellent clinician, a leader, and a friend.
Delilah deserves this honor because of her commitment to clinical excellence.
Delilah has been preceptor to a number of the Nursing Resource staff (RN and PCT’s). She has often asked about focusing on other administrative responsibilities within the Resource Department, but she always declines stating that “my love for training and education is second only to my love for patient care. I belong at the bedside and with the nurses.”
Delilah is a strong clinician and can often be found researching best practice. When training nurses, she incorporates evidence based practice, professional visual (posters), and she explains the information in a clear and concise manner. When the resource staff sees Delilah coming around the corner, they know that some education is about to occur. Delilah is always praised because she is never to busy to help, explain something to you, or to lend a supportive, listening ear.
Delilah has been credited with saving several patient’s lives by her accurate assessment and quick intervention. She is very respected by the physicians. Several of the cardiologists have stated to their patients “you are lucky to have Delilah for your nurse, she is excellent.” This is one of the highest compliments a nurse can receive.
