Excellent doesn't even begin to describe Michelle York. The compassion, knowledge and warmth radiates out of her. Her understanding on how to care and approach our son was indescribable. Never once were we made to feel like a job to her "to do" list. She truly cares.
The connection she made with our son was beyond words. Not only did she make a special connection with, she also included us. The physical care shown was spot on but the emotional connection was breath taking. Her guidance was our special connection.
During an extremely emotional day of our son's recovery she educated us more than we could imagine. Her thoughtful and personal way of educating us made a stressful time less daunting. She taught us how to educate ourselves and in return how to educate our son.
Situations in the past have occurred when our son, who is nonverbal, was unable to express himself. She took the time to understand him and how to approach him by winning his trust. That was something we had never experienced with our son and we are always ill at ease when someone new is presented for his care. He actually held her hand and never once had a meltdown!
Michelle's vast knowledge of the recovery process and special way of teaching us how to care for our son helped us set a plan in place to ensure that we will succeed in helping him have the future we had envisioned for him.
