I had the patient tonight. Yesterday was his and his wife's anniversary and Robin was his nurse. She had called dietary to ask if they had a cake or cupcakes for the patient and his wife and asked them to bring up 2 trays for dinner. She also surprised the patient and his wife by taking them out to the balcony and made them a picnic. The patient also had asked to speak to a priest because he received bad news that day, and she made sure that a priest came in to see him. The priest was informed that it was the patient's anniversary and he redid their wedding vows.
When I came in to see the patient, he told me about the incredible day he had and how much he enjoyed it. Robin really made the day special for him and his wife. It really was a big deal to him. He keeps talking about it and how happy it made him. It really turned a bad day for him into a good one. I just wanted to share this with you. Acts like this make me happy that I work with such amazing and caring people.
