I had surgery for an open hysterectomy and Tammy was my PACU nurse. I woke up in tremendous pain. Tammy gave me pain meds and continued to fight for me as my pain barely dissipated. The surgery lasted 40 minutes and Tammy kept me in PACU for 3 ½ hours to control my pain. Refusing to settle and give in to the fact that I would just be in pain, she continued to watch over me, assuring me that I was not leaving her watch until my pain was under control.
After trying several medications, my pain finally subsided to a bearable point. Tammy kept my family informed and instructed them that morphine does not work on me so I can tell future caregivers. Tammy was insistent and persistent that my pain would be under control on her watch. My recovery was smooth sailing due to her diligence. She is an excellent caring nurse, and I will never forget her.
