Nina is a caring and compassionate nurse, as well as a co-worker who takes extra time to communicate with families and ancillary staff the status and needs of our patients. A young man who has been in our care at LGH is and has been greatly benefitted by having Nina as his nurse. The patient was critically ill and bore some responsibility for the result of his actions. Nina exemplified the nobility of the nursing profession by providing a role model for "non-judgmental" compassion. This patient will now be able to discharge to a level of care at The Rehab Institute of Chicago that very few thought possible. Nina thought it was possible and kept the team and patient's family on a goal directed path. The patient has a long way to go, but without Nina, he would not be going to the number one rehab hospital in the USA.
