Melissa was my overnight nurse, during my four night stay at Princess Anne for a total abdominal hysterectomy. From the first introduction, I could feel Melissa's passion for her work through her gentle demeanor and caring nature. This was comforting as I was in a lot of pain and discomfort, while also experiencing extreme anxiety. Melissa gave exceptional care in helping me travel to and from the restroom quite often and even helped lighten the mood by pretending we were dancing our way there as I needed her every step of the way. She was paramount in making my stay comfortable. The most meaningful impact she had on me was when she went above the call of duty to help me through my panic attacks. She happen to come in to check on me when she noticed I was crying. She took the time to comfort me, hold my hands, and talk me through the fears I was experiencing about dying. I specifically remember her saying, "Not on my watch. I am not going to let anything happen to you on my watch." This meant so much, especially because panic attacks can be embarrassing, but she treated me with genuine concern and care. It brings me to tears as I write this. Melissa deserves the utmost appreciation for the personal touch she has in caring for her patients.
