Yenlys Vega was my second nurse for chemo infusion. There was a confusion on the schedule given and confirmed for 10:15 am on the Main Building. Yenlys called us on that day about 8:30 am wondering what happened to me. I explained to her the schedule given to me and she told me that it was at 7:30 am in the Research building that they will wait for me. Well, we got there around 9:15 am but first, we had to go to financials to make the second payment on our deductible. We arrived at the research building 4th floor all embarrassed and sorry for the scheduling mistake. Yenlys put us, my husband and me, at ease right away. She is like a ray of sunshine. Has a beautiful smile, expressive eyes, full of energy and very sure of what she was doing. So friendly was Yenlys that she made me feel like I was the only patient being treated. She talked to us about why she came to Miami from Texas. When she started her family, she said it was important to raise a family as near as possible to family. Beautiful feelings which came across all during her caring for me. Yenlys made me feel strong and important and gave me hope that I could get some control of my life again. Her dedication is more than extraordinary, it is a true calling and she is very happy with what she is doing, helping in what she can, for those that need it so much. Yenlys picked up my spirits and boosted my confidence to the point. I feel very hopeful. MCI and the BHSF health system are blessed to have Yenlys Vega in our system. It takes an extra special person to do what she does and how she does it every day.
