I would like to nominate Jess Rua, RN from 3West for the DAISY Nurse Award. Jess was newly appointed into her position as ACM approximately one year ago. She has strived to learn about our Unit and get to know all the staff. She maintains a positive attitude and creates an atmosphere of kindness. She is mature and responsible and manages to address all staff and patient concerns fairly and objectively.
In her short time, she has managed to learn about all ACM duties, developed good rapport with staff, and she is continually looking for new ideas to build staff morale and cohesiveness. Jess always maintains a positive attitude, trustworthy nature, and encourages everyone to be their best.
One example of this is RN Clinical Advancement. Jess has provided resources and information to assist in attaining Clinical Advancement to those interested. She continuously checks in and provides ideas and opportunities to help candidates succeed. I was one of several working towards clinical advancement this year.
I personally found her to "make the difference" for my successful Clinical Advancement opportunity. Starting this process can be very overwhelming and Jess was helpful by continuously encouraging and providing ideas and opportunities. Although the Clinical Advancement program provides a Mentor to assist with the process, having her additional support makes all the difference. Our workday can be very busy and overwhelming and sometimes impossible to think about a project this large. Her support made the difference, and now that I look back, the most difficult part of the program was the "fear of the unknown". She made the difference.
