Peggy took such excellent and pro-active care of our family that I wanted to make sure she was recognized for everything she did for us that day. My brother was there for an iliac artery stent with Dr. V. During our stay, she was able to help uncover the fact that he had not been taking his blood pressure or anticoagulant meds for months. I contacted his primary doctor but could not get his meds re-ordered until he came in to be seen since it had been over a year since his last checkup.
Peggy notified Dr. V's office and was able to go over his medicine list with them to get a one-month refill called to his pharmacy to cover him right away. She called Dr. V back again when we were told the pharmacy was out of the Brilinta and we could not get that until the next afternoon. She asked for an order for a bolus dose to be given before we were discharged.
Her compassion for our situation went above and beyond our brief outpatient stay with her. Her skill, excellent knowledge and ability to communicate this to a very stubborn man made a big difference in his health and well-being!
We are getting him back on his essential home medications and back in to see his primary doctor. Sometimes the everyday front-line nursing staff makes such a huge difference in the lives of their patients and families and nobody knows about it.
