My Dad was admitted to your hospital through the Emergency Room for some post-procedure complications. My Mom and I ran home to pick up a few things, and when we returned to Dad’s inpatient room, we found him in excruciating pain. His regular nurse was outside his room awaiting a return call his doctor. Dad was suffering terribly and he has a very high tolerance for pain. Another nurse was walking by Dad’s room and I asked her for help. She was the Charge Nurse, Lynn Reed. She immediately took charge and was able to help my Dad and comfort my mother and me. She assured us she would keep my dad comfortable until his doctor could be reached. She gave us her portable phone number and told us to call if we needed her. She checked on him frequently until the doctor decided to take my dad back to the OR.
Both my Mom and I said later that Lynn was a godsend that day. I don’t know what would have happened had she not been walking by my Dad’s room at exactly the time we needed help. Watching a loved one suffer is so difficult and Lynn understood and showed great caring and compassion. Sometimes life send angels your way, Lynn was our angel that day and we will be forever grateful for the caring she showed our family.
