Seana was recognized by her co-worker who is a SANE nurse. Seana was the primary nurse for a young assault victim. She spent so much time calming the patient, as she was scared, helped her take pills for the first time, offered encouragement when it was needed, she went above and beyond anything expected. She was an amazing support person. During this difficult exam, she went great lengths to let the patient and family know she was there for them. She would sit on the side of the patient's bed, at the patient's level and talked with her about the patient's interests. When the young patient was scared, she showed her videos on her phone to cheer her up. She never, at any time, displayed judgment or lectured the young girl. She was there for whatever she needed with a calming, caring matter.
Seana worked so well with the SANE, the provider, and the lab, to assist with the patent's needs. She never appeared rushed. She helped this young girl work through her own feelings of justice in her choice to come in and go through a SANE exam and reporting to police. She offered respect to the autonomy of someone so young and allowed her to make her own choices, then offered support. She is an exemplary employee of Essentia Health and an incredible example of a nurse.
