• Coordinates with healing touch practitioners for patients with pain or anxiety needs

• Ensures that orthopaedic patients have assistive devices if needed and works with physical therapy to make sure patients know how to use equipment
• Actively involves Patient Care Technicians in patients’ care to give extra assistance and attention to individual needs

• Has taken additional courses in cross-cultural adaptation and intercultural studies.

Lisa Scharf generates enthusiasm through attitude and collaboration:
• Mobilizes enthusiasm for our the hospital’s Magnet journey by maintaining a department bulletin board, performing one-on-one education regarding Magnet topics, assisting with the collection of several Magnet narratives, and participating in activities that keep the fun energy continuing with Magnet recognition
• Actively participates in monthly Collaborative Practice meetings
• Collaborates with aid organization internationally to provide healthcare and education in underserved populations
• Coordinates a reunion annually with nursing students from Biola University
• Has a nursing mentor and serves as a mentor
Lisa Scharf supports a learning environment for patients, families, and colleagues:
• Coordinating a seminar through ASPAN (American Society of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses) to educate peri-anesthesia nurses on specialty-specific topics and the outcomes of latest evidence-based research
• Significantly values educating patients and family members and provides written materials as needed. Proficient in suggesting resources to address individual care needs
• Travels to underprivileged countries to provide education in hygiene, nutrition, sanitation, and basic health care
• Served earlier this year as a guest speaker to a nursing class at a local university (Azusa Pacific University)
• Assisted as a skills lab validator to colleagues in February
