Katherine Shaffer has been a nurse in the Neonatal ICU at Rady Children's Hospital, San Diego for 30 years. She is a clinical expert and a resource to all she works with. She is a leader on the ECMO team and works on the Cardiac team, caring for the most critical patients in the NICU. Katherine works well with her patient's families, is an advocate for them, engages them in the care, and educates and promotes their participation. She is also a resource for the nursing staff on any clinical issue, and is a computer charting superuser. Katherine is the nurse you want by your side on a crazy, busy day in the NICU!!!
