Anthea is the greatest. She is very attentive, cheerful, and is always smiling. I asked her if she had other important things to do, she replied, "Nobody is more important than you." I felt so great. This hospital needs more nurses like her.

"Nobody is more important than you" This is what the patient heard in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic. During a time where Nurses are stressed about their own families, themselves, their patients, and their jobs. While assisting a patient, that seems to have felt bad or unworthy of getting their needs met, and we know this because they asked, don't you have something more important to do. To hear "Nobody is more important than you" and not only hear it but see that the actions that followed matched the statement, it gives me chills. This is an awesome display of compassionate care. Like Patrick, I believe this patient felt valued at this moment. With all that may have been going through Anthea's mind, she made her patient the number one priority at that moment and left an impression that will last a lifetime.
I have had the pleasure of working with Anthea. Within this time, I have seen and heard that meeting the patient's needs, no matter what that might be, is of high importance for Anthea. Anthea seems disturbed when she learns that a patient's call light has been on and no one told her. After speaking to her family, I have learned that Anthea's compassion and excellent work ethic is not only displayed at work but at home as well. I'm not surprised and along with her co-workers. Time and time again Anthea has shown extraordinary teamwork which has made the team even stronger.
One of my favorite quotes comes from Maya Angelo, "People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel."
Thank you, Anthea, for being an extraordinary Nurse rather than just a regular one.
