Paul was an anchor of calm confidence. He gave me the information I needed to make sense of my husband's symptoms, explaining each procedure and intervention. When he left the room, which was seldom, Paul always let me know where he would be, when he would be back, and how to reach him if needed. In those waiting hours, Paul shared stories of his experiences with other patients who survived and recovered well which was most appreciated in the face of this frightening illness. A few days later when my husband was through the crisis and out of the unit, Paul appeared in his hospital room to re-introduce himself and check on my husband's recovery. This was such a thoughtful gesture that meant so much to us. Paul is one of those outstanding individuals in terms of his obvious love of his work, his excellent expertise and in patient care and his above and beyond commitment communication with and in support for the patient and family. To us, Paul is a clear example of the very best nursing practices. He certainly made our hospital experience a positive, healing one. Thank you!
