Danny displayed kindness and compassion when he took the day off and volunteered his time and talents to participate with the adaptive ski event hosted by our Rehab Department at Eagle Lake. If you are not familiar with the event, the skiers are all patients who have had some sort of spinal or neurological impairments. Several of them arrive either in wheelchairs or with mobility challenges. Danny freely gave of his personal time, he dressed in his water skiing gear and water skied beside each of the participants to provide emotional and physical support. Obviously it takes some special water skiing skills to be able to ski next to each of the participants and help them stay up on their skis as they circle the lake. In speaking with the mom of one of our skiers, she was so appreciative. This event allowed her 17-year-old son to do something special and to enhance his quality of life. She said that she had tears of gratitude as she watched her son circle the lake and get the opportunity to do something fun. Needless to say, the event is a huge success with the aid of volunteers like Danny who assist.

In talking with the leader of the Cancer Center, I found that Danny recently passed his Oncology Nurse Certification. He is a pleasure to work with. He comes to work and makes things fun. He has created a Bingo game that the colleagues enjoy. He is energetic, positive, kind, and compassionate. She also relayed that many of the elderly female patients come in, they always ask if Danny is working. The theory is that many of these patients secretly have a crush on him and can't wait to see him. Thanks so much, Danny for what you do for our patients.
