At Oakland Center, Joyce Payne, RN in Endoscopy was honored by one of her co-workers, who told us,

“Joyce Payne has truly perfected the art of connecting with her patients and their families on a very deep and personal level. During her day as an RN, she has only a very brief period of time to interact with her patients before they discharge. She recently went above and beyond her usual responsibilities when she cared for a patient who had an outpatient procedure. The patient was told she had a very serious medical condition which she was totally unprepared to hear. Joyce contacted the physicians that were and would be involved with the patient’s future care to help her and her family to better understand her diagnosis and what that meant to her future health.

Joyce made sure that the patient and her family had numerous opportunities to speak with the physicians that would be involved with her care before the patient was discharged so that they all had a clear understanding of the patient’s treatment options, prognosis and the home care that would be needed. Joyce was relentless in making sure that the patient and her family members were supported physically, mentally and spiritually. She truly treated the patient as she would a member of her own family.

This is just one example of how Joyce takes care of her patients. She has received numerous thank-you’s for her nursing care and the caring attitude that she brings to her patients on a daily basis. She is truly a compassionate and passionate nurse who goes that extra mile for her patients. She is truly deserving of this very special recognition.”
