Annalise had a young patient that had delivered a baby and was scheduled to graduate from high school the next day. The high school required all students graduating to attend the rehearsal the morning of graduation, or not be able to walk in the graduation activities.
Annalise had worked on this patient's discharge the day before to make sure we could discharge her in time to attend the rehearsal. She talked with the patient's doctor, the nursery nurse, and the birth certificate clerk to be sure everything was taken care of so this patient/graduate could attend her class graduation. She discharged this new mom at 9:00 am in time to attend the rehearsal and ceremony. Her baby stayed in the nursery a few hours longer for some extra observation, but mom made it to the gradation while the nursery nurses took care of the baby.
Annalise also made a graduation footprint keepsake to be displayed in the baby's bassinet in the nursery for all to see.
