Tom exhibited constant patience and kindness, sometimes having to repeat information or explanations 2 or 3 times, so I could understand what was happening or why. He took the time to make phone calls to my family members to update and coordinate when my daughter needed to be here, to help me process all the pros and cons of what might need to be done and when.
Besides the emergency I had, I have hearing loss and severe OSA, which interferes with processing information. Tom got me through it, making me feel competent and capable with compassion and a sense of humor. He was always quick to help, and it was encouraging to know he was a big part of my healthcare team. He chased down information to help me understand better. Sometimes I was frustrated with my inabilities, but he always made me feel valued and able. Tom is a good listener and has his heart in his profession.
