Victoria is an exceptional nurse who demonstrates strong nursing values and skills. A specific example of her clinical expertise and compassion for others was illustrated through her care of an 8 year old girl who was hospitalized in the day treatment program for problems with aggression, severely disruptive behavior and reactive attachment disorder.
In spite of a high census in the day treatment program and many responsibilities in addition to patient care, Victoria noted that the parents needed additional education regarding reactive attachment disorder and behavioral management training. Victoria took on the responsibility of parent-shadowing and worked with the parents to better learn to give instruction, to disengage from conflicts with their daughter, and to set appropriate limits on her behavior. These skills provided the parents with the tools they needed to manage their daughter at home, allowing for discharge to home rather than to an alternative care facility.

Victoria is an invaluable member of the Day Treatment team. She is consistently extending herself beyond her expected duties to help other team members and always with a smile on her face. She is flexible and easily transitions between her varied responsibilities. Her caring attitude extends to patients, parents, staff and physicians. On many occasions, I have witnessed her kind interactions melt away distress from the faces of our patients and parents during difficult times. These interactions are laced with an excellent knowledge of our program.
